Hi, I'm Bushra!

I’m a San Francisco-based Senior Product Manager with an eye for products that translate social values into thoughtful experiences at scale.

Growing up in North Carolina, I was steeped in a Southern culture of warm hospitality and care, which continues to influence my love for interfaces that bring people together. My curiosities span from group friendships, to the creation and maintenance of spaces that evoke deep feeling, to AI-assisted co-reading experiences that cultivate the kindest fabric of our human interiority.

At UNC-Chapel Hill, a serendipitous course in Milton's works led me to pursue a degree in English literature. Later, my time at Elon Law School grounded me in the systems of our present day. These complementary modes of reading and interpreting shape my approach to literary interfaces that meet readers where they are in our increasingly complex world.

Throughout my product work, I've crafted technology as an emotional and cultural medium to gather people in virtual and physical places. At Airtime, I launched the web platform from 0 to 1, creating co-watching experiences that brought friends together. At Peerspace, I built tools that gave hosts the confidence to transform their private and meeting spaces into welcoming gatherings for guests.

Now, amidst the shifting sands of technologies crossing the Overton window, I'm exploring social reading interfaces for literary works that are the keepsake of our compassionate humanity.

If I could keep only one book with me, it would be my copy of The Diamond Age: Or, A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer.
